As the weather sends us hurtling into the cooler months of 2025, the overwhelming Autumn Winter theme in interior designs is one that offers a sense of comfort, character, and a welcome connection with nature. This season, homes all over the country are transforming into sanctuaries. They’re layered for warmth, rich in texture and carefully planned for everyday living. Let’s explore those trends that are incoming and those that are being shown the door.

What is hot for Autumn Winter 2025?

Earthy colour palettes

It is time to (finally) say goodbye to greys and sterile whites. The A/W25 season will be all about rich, grounding shades, with tones like burnt caramel, olive green, aubergine, and ochre making a splash. Warmth and sophistication is the look to go for, ideal for shorter days and longer nights.

Texture, texture, texture

Textures are hot for the A/W25 season. Designers are layering textures like raw linen, boucle, brushed metals, and even natural woods in order to create depth that has a real tactile quality. Whether it’s a marble-topped side table or a chunky knit throw, texture will be key when it comes to adding a lived-in yet luxurious feel to your space

Organic shapes and soft curves

From rounded furniture to arched doorways, organic forms that really flow will be helping to soften interiors. Not only do these shapes add visual flow. They also provide a sense of ease and make a clear move away from harsh angles and rigid lines.

Moody lighting

Layered lighting will be replacing the harsher overhead alternative. Creating a cosy environment with alcove lights, wall sconces and floor lamps will offer an ambient glow. This is perfect for those longer winter evenings.

Statement bedrooms

This Autumn Winter, the bedroom is evolving and becoming something of a personal retreat. Stormy blues or forest greens coordinated with vintage inspired furniture and elegant four-poster beds are key to creating the perfect look. Think boutique hotel vibes, but in the comfort of your own home.

Home libraries

BookTok has been revolutionary, and a renewed love of books is huge with people looking to create their own book corner or reading nook. Colours like deep burgundy or navy (invocative of the binding on older books) is popular. This, combined with plush seating, and ambient soundscapes can help make the perfect magical space.

What is on its way out in Autumn Winter 2025?

Stark minimalism

There is a place for simplicity. However, the stark minimalism of past years is well and truly on its way out, giving space instead to more personality and warmth.

Cool greys and icy whites

These tones which were once so popular are being pushed out by warmer neutrals like cream, mocha and brown. The Pantone 2025 Colour of the Year is Mocha Mousse, and this is leading the charge.

Overly open plans

Zoned layouts are increasingly popular with  the “one big room” concept falling out of favour. This is driven by the increasing number of people flexi-working and rising bills. Separate rooms are more practical and cosier.

Glossy finishes

High-shine surfaces are falling out of favour and being replaced by matte, tactile finishes that are easier to maintain – particularly in busy households.

Autumn/Winter 2025 is all about warmth, bold colours and creating an interior that is uniquely you. Whether you are revamping a whole room or replacing a few accessories, the season invites you to embrace warmth, slow down and design with intention.
